For The Love of Textiles! Part 2

Hello Strangers! I know its been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to catch up on my most recent series titles For the love of textiles! Life took a crazy turn and I can not wait to share! Unfortunately I will have to leave you in suspense for just a bit longer! In the meantime let’s talk throws.

If you missed my post on the great debate of pillows you can catch up here For the Love of textiles! Part 1

Throws are another one of the design elements I LOVE to incorporate into just about every room. Along with pillows, there are endless amounts of throws in various sizes, textures and prices.

They too can be changed to fit the season, color scheme and style. They are also very versatile. In our home we have two varieties. The ones that “Mom” uses as a decorative item and the ones that are up for grabs! The second variety are my children’s go-to on those chilly mornings when the kids are bundled up on the couch eating a bowl of cereal.

When drooling over the rows and rows of throws, ask yourself a few questions. Who and how is it going to be used? How often will it need to be washed? Will it easily shed or tassels get tangled?

Is it a big-ticket purchase that will be incorporated in your design for an extended period of time? Or is it an inexpensive splurge that will get its use and then be gone?

I have a house full of kiddos and a pup. Asking myself these questions allow me to have a well-styled home that is functional for a family of five!
I hope you take the opportunity to grab a comfy throw, curl up on the sofa and join me for my next post on table runners and rugs. It is all in the details!
I’d love to hear from you! Soft and fuzzy, chunky knit, tasseled or crisp and clean? What kind of throws make you warm and fuzzy on the inside?

XOXO,

Kelly

  1. Love added throws to my home! We decided long ago, that tassels were not for us! Our throws are olden and we are planning on purchasing some new ones when we move into our new home.
